美中貿易戰持續升溫，Nvidia急謀出路
美國與中國的科技貿易戰毫無減緩跡象，Nvidia這間美國晶片巨頭已經深受其害。面對這場政治風暴，Nvidia正嘗試各種方法，希望能維持在中國市場的地位及穩定性。
根據路透社最新報道，Nvidia將會為中國市場推出一款全新AI晶片，售價將較受限制的H20型號低得多，傳聞最快六月便會開始量產。
Nvidia的新策略是甚麼？
這款GPU（圖像處理器）屬於Nvidia最新Blackwell架構AI處理器系列。預計售價介乎6,500至8,000美元，明顯低於以往一萬至一萬二千美元的常規價位。較低的售價反映出這款晶片規格較低、製造要求亦較簡單。
據悉，這款新晶片將以Nvidia的RTX Pro 6000D作為基礎，並會使用傳統GDDR6記憶體，而非更先進的高頻寬記憶體（HBM）。消息人士亦透露，這批晶片不會使用台積電的CoWoS封裝技術。
不過，確實的售價、生產時間表及細節目前仍未有最終確認。
內部消息透露甚麼？
Nvidia發言人表示，公司正評估「有限」的選項：「在我們確定新產品設計並獲得美國政府批准前，實際上已經被排除於中國500億美元數據中心市場之外。」
雖然新GPU的運算能力遠低於H20，但Nvidia希望透過這款產品，繼續在中國維持競爭力，即使因美國出口限制已經失去不少市佔率。Nvidia在中國的主要競爭對手，正是生產Ascend 910B晶片的華為。
新加坡White Oak Capital Partners半導體投資總監Nori Chiou指出：「中國國產技術如華為，預計一至兩年內便能追上這些降級版本的運算效能。」他補充，Nvidia「僅存的優勢主要在於能夠結合AI叢集及CUDA平台。」
CUDA是Nvidia的程式架構，工程師用來在其GPU上開發AI模型及應用。這個生態圈已經相當成熟，令開發者極度傾向繼續選用Nvidia方案。
回顧Nvidia在中國的發展
過去數年，Nvidia在中國的市佔率由95%大幅跌至50%。CEO黃仁勳早已警告，若美國出口限制不解除，更多中國客戶將會轉投華為晶片。
自從美國在四月禁止H20出口後，Nvidia曾考慮為中國市場特別設計降級版晶片，但最終未能實現。黃仁勳表示，H20所用的Hopper架構已無法再調整以符合美國最新出口規定。預計最快六月推出的新GPU型號，路透社暫未能確認其名稱。
Nvidia這次推出新晶片，更像是被迫而非創新。隨著美國限制愈收愈緊，華為又迅速崛起，Nvidia急急將「縮水」版GPU推入中國市場，正好反映科技巨頭在地緣政治面前的無力感。
